Agroforestry: Agrial's Poultry Group launches an action plan for the afforestation of poultry runs

In autumn 2021, the Co-operative’s Poultry Group launched an action plan for the afforestation of free-range and organic Label Rouge hen runs and Label Rouge poultry runs.

The aim is to highlight alternative production farms and meet societal demand. Afforestation brings benefits for the animal welfare framework, biodiversity, soil quality and carbon footprint. The Poultry Group and ‘Les Fermiers du Bocage’ have put in place aids for the afforestation of pastures.

Agrial’s poultry group is helping its Label Rouge, free-range and organic farmer members to set up agroforestry runs around their buildings.

The objective of this project is threefold: to increase the well-being of the animals, to promote biodiversity and to increase carbon sequestration.
